LWVO 2025 STATE CONVENTION

Every two years, we hold state our convention, where delegates elect officers and directors for the upcoming biennium, adopt programs, make bylaw changes, and adopt a budget, usually for one year. Local Leagues send delegates to state convention, local and state Leagues send delegates to national convention.
​
We will have workshops throughout the weekend to enrich members' knowledge of all things League and to provide insights and education that empower our members to continue our mission to make democracy work for all eligible voters. Our keynote speakers, expert guests, and staff have curated our programming to make sure members who attend walk away inspired and resolved to do the thing that brought them to LWVO in the first place– to empower voters and defend democracy.

We cannot wait to see so many of you at Convention, and have the luxury of spending real time with you. But though us LWVO staffers are delightful, the real joy is in members from all over Ohio to be together. Whether you’re meeting some of the folks you’ve shared a million Zooms with, or catching up with people you haven’t seen since last Convention, or meeting everyone for the very first time, Convention isn’t just for important League business, though there will be plenty of that. The very best part of Convention is spending time with people who are obsessed about all the same things you are! If you’ve never been to Convention, know you will find your people here– we promise.
2025 TRAILBLAZER AWARD CEREMONY & GALA

One of the most epic elements of Convention is our gala, held on Saturday. It’s got it all: compelling speakers, a chance to get dressed up, a delicious meal shared with friends, and a silent auction packed with genuinely impressive donations from communities around Ohio.
But most importantly, our bi-annual fundraising event, begun in 2019, is our opportunity to recognize the contributions of some extraordinary democracy defenders. Every year, we honor League members, partner organizations, local Leagues, and others who have gone above and beyond to empower voters and defend democracy.

We bet you know someone who did the most in 2024– nominate them! There are lots of categories this year, so feel free to nominate more than one democracy hero.
The deadline for nominations is February 24th; winners will be announced at our May 17th Gala in Aurora.

Trailblazer Gala and Awards Ceremony. Started in 2019, this bi-annual fundraising event provides LWVO the opportunity to honor outstanding members, community partners and local Leagues. Hotel guest room reservation information:
LWVO has reserved a block of rooms for the nights of Friday, May 16, and Saturday, May 17, at a rate of $119 per night for single rooms and $119 for double rooms. Free parking is available. Each conference attendee is responsible for making their own reservation by calling 330-995-0200.

VOLUNTEER FOR DISCOUNTED REGISTRATION
SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER AND EARN DISCOUNTED REGISTRATION RATES!
We need volunteers Friday, Saturday and Sunday (May 16-18) to help with a variety of tasks including staffing the registration table, taking photos, setting up for workshops and helping with the plenary session. If you volunteer for at least 4 hours during the convention, you'll get a discount off the convention registration fees!
