Welcome to Speak Up & Connect

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Starting the week of October 15 imPACT website users will have a new feature in this space to help you connect to your “employees”, state and federal representatives you elected. We invite you to read about a hot issue and then click on the “SPEAK UP! Find and Contact Your Legislator Now” icon on the left to find and connect to the email addresses of your representatives and let them know what you think about the issue. It’s easy. Collect your thoughts, write away, click and send.

Citizen responsibility does not end when we cast our vote. In his new book The New American Story, Bill Bradley says that now more then ever we need to embrace an “ethic of connectedness”, a combination of collective action and individual responsibility to solve our nation’s most pressing problems. We are, after all, what makes our country a democracy. It is up to us to let our representatives know how best they can represent us! Here, we make it easy for you to let them know what you think.

The issues will be timely and we hope to give you enough information to form an opinion. There are plenty of links on our imPACT and LWVO web sites to take you to in-depth information if you want to learn more. Let us know what you think of this feature on the “contact us” link above the “Speak Up!” link. We welcome your suggestions for articles. Our LWVO Lobby Corps will keep us abreast of what’s happening at the state level.

Thank you for visiting the imPACT website.Come back often!
