League of Women Voters of Ohio calls for Ban on Injection Wells Pending Comprehensive Map of Faults

The League of Women Voters of Ohio, responding to earthquakes in Youngstown and other areas of the state, today urged the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to institute a ban on use of injection wells located near critical infrastructure, such as pipelines, bridges, and dams, as well as heavily-populated areas. The League requested that the ban remain in place until there is a comprehensive map of faults in Ohio. Otherwise, an injection well close to a previously unknown fault could lead to more earthquakes.
